Hi, I'm
Brandon
About me
From a young age I've been the Willie Wortel of the family. Always being curious about science and tech especially.
Currently spending a gap year as shiftmanager at McDonald's, learning a lot about leadership and people skills. Also applying some of my computer skills (see Coding). Tying nicely into starting my Computing Science bachelor's at the RUG next year.
My time off is spent either on the computer, outside with my camera (maybe rock climbing) or under my cars.
Coding
I've been programming since 2015, starting with JavaScript due to its accessibility. Transitioning to Rust a few years later, attracted by its nice semantics and compile time performance/safety.
Verspil 🍔
Digitized waste management developed for my job (5 restaurants currently). Rust backend for serving the frontend and managing the database. Plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript frontend for logging in, writing off and viewing data.

Photography
When my dad bought our first DSLR in 2010, I was just 6 years old, however I fell in love with
photography instantly.
Among the pandemic I sought a hobby and thought, why not take some pictures while hiking.
All of the backgrounds on this website are original shots of mine and I have a
separate page with most of my edited shots in high quality.
After upgrading from my dad's Nikon D3100 body with the kit lens, I now use a Sony A7 II with mostly the
Sony FE 50mm f/1.8 prime. Alternatively, I use the included zoom lens, Sony FE 28-70mm
f/3.5-5.6.
Cars
Daily driver 'Toyota Starlet XLi' from 1995. No modern features (except a sunroof :)) and just 75hp but will probably outlive me and still does 0-100km/h in just over 10 seconds.
